Nets can’t keep up with Sonics and lose 119-113

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 5:01 pm

The Nets looked tired in the first quarter last night after playing an OT game on Sunday against the Wizards, as they fell behind 35-17.  The Nets then woke up and made a fight out of this game before falling just a tad short.

Vince Carter had another incredible game with 38 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.  Nenad Krstic had another good game with 21 points & 5 rebounds.  Krstic is stepping up his offensive game lately to make up for the loss of Richard Jefferson.  Jason Kidd really led the offense well with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists.  Marcus Williams (11 points) and Antoine Wright (10 points) also played well on offense.

The Nets played well for being tired last night.  They almost pulled it out, but in the end they dropped their record to 3-3 on the season.

Nets blast Wizards in OT and prevail 105-93

The Nets out-scored the Wizards 18-6 in OT to pull out a nice road victory.  Vince Carter led the way with 34 points, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.  Nenad Krstic had a great game with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.  Jason Kidd got his 77th career triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 18 assists and 4 steals.  Bostjan Nachbar came off of the bench and scored 15 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.

The Nets shot 48.8% from the floor which helped them out alot because they were out-rebounded 54-43 by the Wizards.  The Nets rose to the challenge in OT, and got a nice road win to improve their record to 3-2 on the season.

Richard Jefferson to miss time

Blogged under Front Page, Injuries by Nothing but Net on Sunday 12 November 2006 at 1:44 am

Richard Jefferson will miss 4-8 weeks with a Grade 2 ankle sprain.  He injured the ankle by stepping on Shaquille O’Neal’s foot akwardly.  Antoine Wright and Bostjan Nachbar will probably split time until Jefferson can return.  This will really hurt the Nets.

Centers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 8:55 pm

Nenad Krstic is turning into a fine NBA center.  Krstic is more of an offensive center, as he averaged 13.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game last season.  Krstic improved alot in his second year as Jason Kidd started to look more for him last season.  For his two-year career, Nenad has averaged 11.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.

Cliff Robinson will be the back-up this season.  Robinson played well in his limited minutes last season averaging 6.9 points & 3.3 rebounds.  Robinson’s game is similar to Krstic because even at his advanced age, Robinson is still an offensive player first.  Robinson has had a fine career in which he has averaged 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.

Josh Boone was one of the Nets first round picks this season and he had to have surgery on a torn labrum in his shoulder.  Boone will be out until January and will be brought along slowly.

Small Forwards

Richard Jefferson is the starter here and he’s the #2 option on the offense for the Nets.  Last year Jefferson averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.  Jefferson is great in transition offense and he also takes high percentage shots.  For his career, Jefferson has averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.  Jefferson could take on more of the scoring load if something ever happened to Vince Carter.

Bostjan Nachbar is the back-up.  Nachbar is a good 3-point shooter (35% for career) but he’s a soft player.  For his career, Nachbar has averaged 4.9 points & 1.9 rebounds per game over his career.
