Nets can’t keep up with Heat and lose 113-106

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 12:17 pm

The Nets played hard but it didn’t matter as the Heat were just too tough.  Vince Carter led the way with 33 points.  Richard Jefferson scored 16 points before he left the game with an injury.  Antoine Wright picked up where Jefferson left off and he also scored 16 points.  Jason Kidd came close to a triple-double with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.  Nenad Krstic continued his fine play against Shaq with 12 points & 11 rebounds.  Rookie PG Marcus Williams came off of the bench and scored 10 points and dished out 4 assists.

The Nets shot 48% from the floor and still lost to the Heat.  The Nets have fallen to 2-2 on the year.

Nets hold off the Jazz 96-89

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 9 November 2006 at 2:00 am

The Nets moved to 2-1 despite getting out-rebounded 48-31 by the Jazz.  Vince Carter had a great game with 30 points and 8 rebounds.  Richard Jefferson also gave the Jazz trouble with 23 points.  Jason Kidd and reserve guard Antoine Wright each scored 15 points.  It seemed as if the Nets athletic ability was giving the Jazz all kinds of trouble.  The Nets are now 2-1 this season.

Power Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 6 November 2006 at 2:18 pm

For the Nets the Power Forward position is only used for defense and rebounding.  That’s where Jason Collins comes in as the Nets starter.  Collins is a decent player but nothing special.  Collins has averaged 5.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.7 blocks per game over his career.

The Nets traded for Mikki Moore in the off-season to back-up Collins.  Moore hasn’t gotten much of an opportunity to play much in his career so far, averaging only 13.4 minutes per game.  Moore has averaged 4.5 points & 3.1 rebounds per game over his career.

Nets go cold and lose 91-85 to Heat

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 4 November 2006 at 2:59 am

Vince Carter was one of only a couple of Nets that weren’t ice-cold shooting the ball, as he scored 27 points.  Center Nenad Krstic always plays well against Shaq and did so again, scoring 20 points and adding 6 rebounds.  Richard Jefferson only shot 4 of 15 from the field for 11 points and he grabbed 8 rebounds.  Jason Kidd scored 9 points & dished out 9 assists.

Nets win 102-92 over the Raptors on opening night

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 2 November 2006 at 5:03 pm

The Nets won this game because they shot well (51.3% FGs), out-rebounded the Raptors 52-38, and held the Raptors to 39.4% shooting.  Vince Carter had a fantastic game, scoring 25 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.  Jason Kidd had a triple-double, scoring 14 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists.  Richard Jefferson scored 16 points and had 6 rebounds.  Center Nenad Krstic only played half of the game (24 minutes) but scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  Back-up small forward Bostjan Nachbar was a huge surprise adding 14 points.

A nice win to start the season.
