Vince Carter has been awesome!

Blogged under Steppin Up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 15 December 2006 at 9:09 pm

Vince Carter has been outstanding this season.  Carter has been unstoppable on offense as he’s averaging 27.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game so far this season.  Carter has been shooting the ball very well as he’s hitting 48.4% from the floor, 39.2% from 3-point range, and 81.2% from the free-throw line.  That free-throw % is important because he’s been getting fouled alot on drives to the basket.  His quick hands are also paying off on defense as he’s averaging 1.2 steals per game.  He has replaced Jason Kidd as the most important player on the New Jersey Nets.  If he went down, so would the Nets playoff hopes.

The Nets really never had a scare in this game as they played tight defense against Michael Redd, holding him to only 9 points.  Vince Carter was outstanding with 36 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists.  Nenad Krstic had a decent game with 13 points and 6 rebounds.  Mikki Moore had a good game off the bench with 12 points and 7 rebounds.  Jason Kidd got another triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 3 steals.

The Nets improved to 9-12 on the season with this win.

Nets rookies help out off the bench

Blogged under Rookie Report, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 12 December 2006 at 7:06 pm

The Nets were jumping for joy when point guard Marcus Williams was available with their pick.  They felt he was the best point guard in the draft.  He will back up Jason Kidd this season and allow Kidd to get more rest.  He will eventually replace Kidd as the starting point guard in the future.  Williams has played in all 20 games this season and has averaged 18.5 minutes, 7.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game so far this season.

Hassan Adams also has provided good energy off the bench when given some PT.  Adams has played in 16 games and has averaged 4.7 minutes, 2.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game so far this season.  He has shot an outstanding 69.6% from the floor.

Josh Boone has only played in 3 games so far as he was recovering from a torn labrum in his shoulder that occurred before the draft.  The team has high hopes for him.

Center Mile Ilic has also only played in 3 games this season and is hanging onto his roster spot by a thread.

I really like the draft class of the Nets.

Cliff Robinson has surgery

Blogged under Front Page, Injuries by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 12 December 2006 at 12:16 am

Cliff Robinson will be out until late December after undergoing surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee.  This could really hurt the Nets bench as it will be really young now.
