Vince Carter had a stellar season for the New Jersey Nets

Vince Carter was outstanding in what could wind up being his swan song for the Nets.  In 82 games last season, Carter averaged 38.1 minutes, 25.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  He also shot the ball really well as he hit 45.4% from the floor, 35.7% from three-point range and 80.2% from the free throw line.  If this was indeed Vince Carter’s last season in New Jersey….he went out with a bang.

Vince Carter’s career has been outstanding to date.  In 621 career games, Carter has averaged 24.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  He also has shot well as he has hit 44.7% of his shots from the floor, 37.7% from three-point range and 79.2% from the free throw line.  Look for Carter to continue to put up big numbers for the Nets or whoever he plays for next season.

The Nets didn’t start or finish the game well on Friday Night as they were outscored 59-27 in the 1st and 4th quarters!  The Nets also were shooting a lot of bricks as they only hit 37.7% out their shots from the floor.  Jason Kidd led the way for the Nets with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists despite only shooting 7 of 20 from the floor.  Richard Jefferson pitched in with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.  Mikki Moore had another solid game with 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Vince Carter had a horrible night as he only shot 4 of 11 from the floor and he finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  The Nets season is now over as the Cavs defeated them 4 games to 2 in this series.

The Nets dominated the first three quarters of this basketball game and then they held on for a victory despite only scoring 6 points in the 4th quarter!  The Nets defense suffocated the Cavs the whole game as they held them to 33.3% shooting from the floor.  Jason Kidd had a great game as he led the way for the Nets with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Richard Jefferson (15 points, 8 rebounds) and Mikki Moore (14 points, 6 rebounds) both did a good job around the basket on offense and defense for the Nets.  Vince Carter had a solid game despite only scoring 12 points, as he grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.  Bostjan Nachbar had a solid game off of the bench with 13 points and 3 rebounds.   The Nets have stayed alive by winning last night, but they still trail the Cavs 3-2 in this series that returns to New Jersey tomorrow night.

It’s amazing that the Nets actually had a chance to win this game considering how poorly they shot the ball as a team.  The Nets only hit 36% from the floor and that did them in at the end.  Mikki Moore was the one player that came to play for the Nets last night.  He shot 11 for14 from the floor and he finished up with 25 points and 4 rebounds.  Vince Carter had an awful night as he got the ball stolen from him as time was running out with a chance to tie or take the lead.  Carter shot only 6 for 23 from the floor and he finished with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.  Richard Jefferson was 3 for 12 from the floor and he wound up with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.  Jason Kidd was 2 for 13 from the floor and he finished with 5 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists.  The Nets are now down 3-1 to the Cavs as the series shifts back to Cleveland.

The Nets wanted this game more than the Cavs did.  They even outrebounded the Cavs 43-30 and that is pretty amazing!  Richard Jefferson led the way for the Nets with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Vince Carter was also very active with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.  Jason Kidd had a fantastic game running the offense with 23 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists.  Mikki Moore pitched in with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  The Cavs still lead the series 2-1.
