The New Jersey Nets select power forward Sean Williams in the first round

Sean Williams is a defensive force at power forward at that’s exactly what the doctor ordered for the Nets.  Williams has nice size at 6′10″, 235 pounds and he should develop into a good rebounder.  He played in 69 games at Boston College and he averaged 5.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots per game.  Most of his shots are from very close range as he hit 57.7% shots from the floor but only 60.5% on his free throws.  Look for him to be a starter from Day #1 unless the Nets re-sign Mikki Moore.

The New Jersey Nets have a little work to do

The New Jersey Nets are hoping that Vince Carter exercises his player option and returns to the Nets.  They were actively trying to trade Carter at the trade deadline but they lucked out when they couldn’t find a taker and he then led the team to the playoffs.  The Nets should do everything they can to keep the Carter-Kidd-Jefferson gang together.  They also should reward free agent Mikki Moore for his surprisingly good play last season.  The Nets should take the best big man available in the draft because the reason the Cavs beat them in the playoffs was because of their rebounding advantage on the Nets.  The Nets own the #17 pick in Thursday’s Draft.
