The New Jersey Nets have a deep bench
The Nets have a nice mixture of youth and experience on their bench. Bostjan Nachbar had a breakout season for the Nets last year and he will back up Richard Jefferson at small forward this year. He played in 76 games (1 start) for the Nets last season and he averaged 20.2 minutes, 9.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. 2nd year point guard will miss a chunk of the early season due to injury but he’s the best guard the Nets will have coming off of the bench this season. Williams played in 79 games (2 starts) for the Nets as a rookie last season and he averaged 16.6 minutes, 6.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Darrell Armstrong might be ancient but he can still give you a few good minutes every night off of the bench. Armstrong played in 81 games (4 starts) last season for the Pacers and he averaged 15.7 minutes, 5.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Antoine Wright will back up at shooting guard and small forward this season for the Nets. He played in 63 games (23 starts) last season for the Nets and he averaged 18.0 minutes, 4.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Newly acquired guard David Wesley can handle either the point or shooting guard position but the Cavs didn’t think much of him last season. Wesley played in 35 games (5 starts) for the Cavs last season and he averaged 10.1 minutes, 2.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. 2nd year power forward Josh Boone will get a lot of playing time this season. As a rookie he played in 61 games (0 starts) for the Nets last season and he averaged 11.0 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Malik Allen will also get some playing time at power forward for the Nets. He played in 60 games (1 start) last season for the Bulls and he averaged 10.6 minutes, 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Jason Collins will back up Krstic at center and he will likely be better as a backup. He played in 80 games (78 starts) last season for the Nets and he averaged 23.1 minutes, 2.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. First round pick Sean Williams will likely be brought along slowly by the Nets.
