The Nets appeared tired last night after Saturday’s overtime loss to the Clippers and it’s hard to deal with a team like the Suns when you aren’t 100% ready to run. Richard Jefferson led the way for the Nets with 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Rookie forward Sean Williams pitched in with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Bostjan Nachbar added some instant offense off the bench with 12 points and 2 rebounds in only 17 minutes on the court. The Nets fell to 18-22 on the season with this loss.

Starting center Nenad Krstic is out indefinately due to soreness in his knee that he had surgery on last year. Krstic has played in 12 games this season and he looked like a player who was hurting as he only has hit 32.9% of his shots from the floor. Krstic is averaging 15.0 minutes, 4.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Second year man Josh Boone has been inserted into the starting lineup at center and he’s done a decent job for the Nets. Boone has played in 29 games so far this season and he’s averaging 20.4 minutes, 6.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Boone is shooting 51.9% from the floor but only 30.5% from the free throw line. Boone can’t be on the court at the end of the game because of his free throw shooting which could hinder the Nets late.

The New Jersey Nets need Bostjan Nachbar to pick up his play

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Saturday 5 January 2008 at 1:20 pm

Bostjan Nachbar was outstanding off of the bench last season for the Nets but he hasn’t been as sharp this season. The Nets need his shooting off of the bench to give the team’s second unit some scoring ooomph. He has played in 29 games this season for the Nets and he is averaging 22.4 minutes, 10.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. His shooting must improve or he might start to lose playing time as he’s only shooting 39.4% from the floor and 30.8% from three point range so far this season.
