The New Jersey Nets trade Marcus Williams to Golden State

The Nets figured that they are solid with Devin Harris and Keyon Dooling at point guard and that part of the reasoning for the trade of Marcus Williams to the Warriors. The Nets will receive a future 1st round pick for Williams. Williams played in 53 games (7 starts) last season for the Nets and he averaged 16.1 minutes, 5.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. The Nets have soured on Willams who was drafted two seasons ago to eventually replace Jason Kidd in the starting lineup but it never happened. He played in 132 games (9 starts) in two years for the Nets and he averaged 16.4 minutes, 6.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while only shooting 39% from the floor. This is a win-win trade as Williams will get more minutes with the Warriors while the Nets get a future first round pick for a player who wasn’t going to play much for them.
