The Nets just couldn’t get anything going against the Magic last night as they only shot 38.3% from the floor. The Nets also got pushed around on the glass as the Magic outrebounded them 48-39. Courtney Lee led the way for the Nets against his old team with 18 points, 2 asssits and 2 steals but he only shot 6 of 17 from the floor. Devin Harris also had a rough shooting night as he was only 6 of 18 from the floor but he still finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Yi Jianlian pitched in with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. The Nets are now 0-2 on the season.

The New Jersey Nets lose Jarvis Hayes

The Nets will be without small forward Jarvis Hayes for a while due to a strained hamstring. He was injured after only playing 2 minutes in the season opener against the T-Wolves. He did not score and he had a steal. This is the kind of break that rookie Terrence Williams needed as he will likely fill in for Hayes. He played in 31 minutes in the season opener for the Nets and he finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 1 assists showing his vast potential. Bobby Simmons might also see a small bump in playing time. He played 8 minutes in the season opener and he finished with 4 points and 1 rebound.

Minnesota Timberwolves 95, New Jersey Nets 93

The New Jersey Nets stunk in the 4th quarter in this game getting outscored 31-15 by the Timberwolves and it cost them the game. Brook Lopez was a beast in this game for the Nets as he finished up with 27 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocked shots. Yi Jianlian had maybe the best game of his NBA career as he scored 17 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and he blocked two shots. Rookie Terrence Williams had a very solid NBA debut with 15 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes. The Nets even played really solid on defense holding the Nets to 36.6% shooting from the floor. Still, the Nets start the season 0-1.

The over/under for New Jersey Nets wins in 2009-2010 is 28.5

The Nets have a lot of young talent on the roster but it’s going to take time for them to develop. With that in mind I’m thinking I would take the under for the Nets. They will be good a few years down the road but this year they will likely be stinky. Take the under.

The New Jersey Nets had a trio of young players really step up in the pre-season

The New Jersey Nets expected big things out of Courtney Lee and Brook Lopez. But the star of the pre-season for the Nets was second year guard Chris Douglas-Roberts. He started all 7 games that he played in and he averaged 33.9 minutes, 18.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Douglas-Roberts will definately get more playing time than he did last season. Courtney Lee is in line to start at Vince Carter’s old shooting guard spot. He played in 5 games (4 starts) in the pre-season and he averaged 34.2 minutes, 16.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Lee also shot well hitting 52.8% from the floor in the pre-season. 2nd year center Brook Lopez was outstanding as expected in the pre-season for the Nets. He started all 7 games and he averaged 29.1 minutes, 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 3.0 blocked shots per game. Expect big things out of Lopez this season.
