Trenton Hassell got a rare start in the place of Chris Douglas-Roberts and he was solid scoring 17 rebounds and grabbing 12 rebounds in 46 minutes. Rafer Alston did a decent job of running the show for the Nets in this game with 14 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists. The Nets are now 0-6 on the season.

The New Jersey Nets lose Yi Jianlian

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 9:37 pm

The Nets will be without Yi Jianlian indefinately as he has a sprained MCL in his right knee. He has played in 4 games (all starts) for the Nets so far this season and he is averaging 29.8 minutes, 9.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game. Josh Boone will probably replace him in the starting lineup. He has played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Nets so far this season and he is averaging 11.3 minutes, 2.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Eduardo Najera and Sean Williams will also see a bump in minutes playing behind Boone. This injury really hurts the Nets as they were depending on Yi to start living up to his potential this season.

UPDATE: Yi Jianlian will be out 4-6 weeks as he has been diagnosed with a grade #1 sprain of his right knee.

Chris Douglas-Roberts is off to a good start this season for the Nets. He has played in 4 games (all starts) this season and he is averaging 34.5 minutes, 14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. With all of the injuries the Nets have suffered Douglas-Roberts should continue getting a lot of playing time.

The New Jersey Nets will be without Devin Harris for a while

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Nets News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 2 November 2009 at 11:04 pm

The Nets will be without starting point guard Devin Harris for the next 7-10 days due to a strained right groin. This will hurt the Nets as Harris is the best player on the team. He has started 2 games this season for the Nets and he has averaged 32.0 minutes, 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Harris will be replaced by veteran Rafer Alston. Alston has played in 4 games (2 starts) for the Nets this season and he is averaging 29.3 minutes, 8.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Alston will likely do a decent job while Harris is out but this injury will still hurt the Nets.

UPDATE: Harris will now be out around 4 weeks due to his groin injury which is a little worse than first thought. This will really hurt the Nets as Harris is without a doubt the best player on the team.
