New Jersey Nets 101, Dallas Mavericks 117
The New Jersey Nets (0-18) season continues to get worse as they now have solidified their spot as one of the worst teams in NBA history with their loss to the Dallas Mavericks (14-5) last night. The Nets now have the record for the most consecutive losses to start a season, at 18. The Nets look lost at times out there, and they gave up 49 points in the second quarter. Not 49 points in a half, but a quarter. That is flat out pathetic. The Nets shot 44% from the field, while the Mavs shot 59% from the field and out-rebounded the Nets 42-28. Chris Douglas-Roberts was the Nets leading scorer with 24 points, but showed obvious signs of frustration during and after the game, along with most of the other Nets’ players. This was another ugly loss in a very ugly season for the Nets, who are in danger of breaking the 1972 Philadelphia 76ers for the worst NBA record of all time at 9-73.
