The New Jersey Nets are hoping for more out of Terrence Williams

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 10:49 am

The Nets were hoping for more out of SG/SF Terrence Williams but he still has time to deliver on his immense potential. Williams has played in 32 games (3 starts) for the Nets so far this season and he is averaging 21.5 minutes, 7.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. If Williams improves his shooting he will earn more minutes. Williams is only shooting 36.9% from the floor this season and even the Nets can’t play him big minutes shooting like that.

The New Jersey Nets acquire Chris Quinn from the Heat

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Nets News, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 6 January 2010 at 8:49 am

The Nets have acquired 26-year old point guard Chris Quinn, a 2012 second round pick and cash for a heavily protected 2010 draft pick. Quinn has not played this season in the NBA. He played in 66 games last season for the Heat and he averaged 14.6 minutes, 5.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Quinn has now played in 168 games (26 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 16.1 minutes, 5.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. His main asset on offense is his three point shooting as he has hit 39.7% of his shots from that range in his NBA career. This was a good move for the Nets as Quinn is cheaper than Rafer Alston and he has a lot of the same skills.

The New Jersey Nets need more from Rafer Alston

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 3 January 2010 at 9:17 am

The Nets need Rafer Alston to pick up his game to build up some trade value. He has played in 27 games (13 starts) for the Nets this season and he is averaging 28.4 minutes, 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Alston needs to start shooting better or the Nets are going to be stuck with him all season. He is only shooting 34.3% from the floor and 32.2% from three point range so far this season. If Alston doesn’t start playing better the Nets will likely to continue cutting his playing time.

UPDATE: The Nets have bought out the rest of Rafer Alston’s contract making him a free agent.
