The Nets have acquired 30-year old power forward Troy Murphy from the Pacers while sending 24-year old shooting guard Courtney Lee to the Rockets as part of a big four team, five player trade. The Rockets have sent Trevor Ariza to the Hornets and the Hornets have sent point guard Darren Collison and small forward James Posey to the Pacers to complete this deal. Murphy played in 72 games (69 starts) for the Pacers last season and he averaged 32.6 minutes, 14.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He has now played in 621 games (477 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 29.4 minutes, 12.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He has also shot 39.4% from three point range which is strange for such a strong rebounder. Troy Murphy will team with Brook Lopez to make the Nets very strong around the basket in 2010-11. Courtney Lee played in 71 games (66 starts) for the Nets last season and he averaged 33.5 minutes, 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The Nets won’t miss Courtney Lee at all in 2010-11 now that they have signed Anthony Morrow who will likely replace him in the starting lineup. This was a great trade for the Nets!

The Nets have signed 26-year old power forward Sean May to a 1-year deal. May played in 37 games (4 starts) for the Kings last season and he averaged 8.9 minutes, 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He has now played in 119 games (25 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 15.7 minutes, 6.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. This was not a high impact signing for the Nets as May will likely be sitting at the end of the bench on most nights.

UPDATE: (9/8/2010) - The Nets have released Sean May who broke his foot during workouts last week.
