Starting center Nenad Krstic is out indefinately due to soreness in his knee that he had surgery on last year. Krstic has played in 12 games this season and he looked like a player who was hurting as he only has hit 32.9% of his shots from the floor. Krstic is averaging 15.0 minutes, 4.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Second year man Josh Boone has been inserted into the starting lineup at center and he’s done a decent job for the Nets. Boone has played in 29 games so far this season and he’s averaging 20.4 minutes, 6.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Boone is shooting 51.9% from the floor but only 30.5% from the free throw line. Boone can’t be on the court at the end of the game because of his free throw shooting which could hinder the Nets late.

The Nets will be without Vince Carter for the next three weeks due to a Grade 1 ankle sprain. Carter has played in 6 games this season and he has averaged 36.2 minutes, 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.0 block per game this season. Antoine Wright will replace him in the starting lineup and that will be a huge dropoff in production for the Nets.

The New Jersey Nets will lose Marcus Williams for a while

2nd year point guard Marcus Williams has fractured a bone in his right foot and he will undergo surgery on Monday.  The Nets will know how long Williams will be out some time next week.  This is a huge blow to the Nets as Williams was Jason Kidd’s backup and he provided him with some rest last season.  Williams played in 79 games as a rookie and he averaged 6.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.  Jason Kidd’s minutes will probably go up until Williams is able to return to active duty.

The Nets didn’t start or finish the game well on Friday Night as they were outscored 59-27 in the 1st and 4th quarters!  The Nets also were shooting a lot of bricks as they only hit 37.7% out their shots from the floor.  Jason Kidd led the way for the Nets with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists despite only shooting 7 of 20 from the floor.  Richard Jefferson pitched in with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.  Mikki Moore had another solid game with 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Vince Carter had a horrible night as he only shot 4 of 11 from the floor and he finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  The Nets season is now over as the Cavs defeated them 4 games to 2 in this series.
