Jordan Farmar is heating up for the New Jersey Nets

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 26 January 2012 at 7:08 pm

25-year old PG/SG Jordan Farmar has really been playing well as of late for the Nets. In his last four games, Farmar is averaging 15.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. The Nets hope that isn’t a mirage as they have no issues with giving him a lot of P.T. as long as he keeps performing at a high level. Farmar has played in 17 games (0 starts) overall this year and he is averaging 19.6 minutes, 9.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He has been a real asset shooting the ball as he has nailed 23 of 50 (46%) shots from three point range so far this year.

Kris Humphries is proving that last season was no mirage for the New Jersey Nets

26-year old power forward Kris Humphries is proving that last year was no fluke for the Nets. He has played in 5 games (all starts) for the Nets so far this year and he is averaging 31.4 minutes, 12.4 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game. Humphries is shooting 52.5% from the floor so far this year, but most of his shots are coming from in tight to the basket. He is getting booed unmercifully on the road due to his marriage that lasted only 72 days to the utter skank named Kim Kardashian.

Marshon Brooks is stepping up for the New Jersey Nets

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 30 December 2011 at 1:00 pm

22-year old rookie shooting guard Marshon Brooks has really been stepping up for the Nets so far this year. As as team the Nets are only averaging 79.3 points per game, so they are looking for anyone they can to spark the offense. Brooks has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Nets so far this year and he is averaging 19.0 minutes, 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. If Brooks keeps playing like he is right now, he will likely pass up Anthony Morrow and Sundiata Gaines on the depth chart in no time.

Avery Johnson got the most out of the New Jersey Nets last year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 17 May 2011 at 10:21 am

46-year old head coach Avery Johnson was taking over a basketball team that was 12-70 (14.6%) during the 2009-2010 season. The Nets then missed out on the big time players that the owner wanted to sign, so Johnson’s Nets didn’t have a lot of talent going into the 2010-11 season. Johnson improved the team by 12 games in his first year in charge of the Nets as they finished 24-58 last year. Johnson has a career record of 218-128 (63%) as an NBA head coach during the regular season and he is 23-24 (48.9%) in the playoffs. Johnson is a winner and if the Nets’ front office get him more talent for 2011-12, he might have them competing for a playoff spot.

Kris Humphries really stepped up for the New Jersey Nets last year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 5 May 2011 at 7:57 am

Head Coach Avery Johnson decided to give 27-year old power forward Kris Humphries his big shot last season and he passed with flying colors. Humphries played in 74 games (44 starts) for the Nets last year and he averaged 27.9 minutes, 10.0 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game on 52.7% shooting from the floor. The Nets are going to try hard to re-sign Humphries over the summer because he’s a beast in the paint. With Brook Lopez turning softer than a roll of Charmin, they need a tough guy like Humphries. Humphries has now played in 431 games (52 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 15.4 minutes, 5.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He is a late bloomer.
