Travis Outlaw has been a sharpshooter so far this year for the New Jersey Nets

26-year old small forward Travis Outlaw is off to a decent start this year for the Nets. Outlaw has played in 10 games (all starts) so far this year for the Nets and he is averaging 31.6 minutes, 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He has hit 50% of his shots from the floor, 56.8% from three point range and 73.3% from the free throw line so far this year. The Nets need Outlaw to keep shooting well because it opens a lot of things inside for Brook Lopez and whoever is playing power forward at that time.

Devin Harris gets off to a fast start for the New Jersey Nets

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 2 November 2010 at 1:23 pm

27-year old starting point guard Devin Harris is off to a outstanding start for the Nets this year. He has started all 3 games for the Nets so far this year and he is averaging 31.7 minutes, 18.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Harris is also shooting 57.6% from the floor which is pretty darn good. The Nets were smart to keep Devin Harris as a lot of teams wanted to trade for him over the summer. When healthy, Harris makes everyone on the Nets a better offensive player.

The New Jersey Nets should keep Devin Harris now

With the Nets getting the #3 selection in the NBA Draft it makes perfect sense that they will keep 27-year old point guard Devin Harris. If the Nets had won the lottery they would have likely drafted John Wall out of Kentucky and traded Harris. Harris played in 64 games (61 starts) for the Nets last season and he averaged 34.7 minutes, 16.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He has now played in 158 games (152 starts) in his three years with the Nets and he has averaged 35.1 minutes, 18.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game. The Nets should see by now that Harris is a player to build around not one to trade unless they get an offer that they can’t refuse.

The New Jersey Nets might just have something in Kris Humphries

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 28 May 2010 at 2:15 pm

25-year old power forward Kris Humphries has been quite a find for the Nets. He came to them in a trade with the Mavericks during last season. Humphries played in 44 games (0 starts) for the Nets last season in which he averaged 20.6 minutes, 8.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He played in 69 games (0 starts) combined for the Mavs & Nets last season in which he averaged 17.7 minutes, 7.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. I think that Humphries could really be a asset for the Nets in the near future and I think he could get more P.T. in 2010-11 depending on if the Nets add at power forward or not. He has now played in 357 games (8 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 12.8 minutes, 4.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.

UPDATE: (6/29/2010) - Kris Humphries has picked up his player option for the 2010-11 season valued at $3.2 million bucks.

Brook Lopez is a player the New Jersey Nets will be building around

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 10 May 2010 at 8:01 pm

22-year old center Brook Lopez is developing into one of the best centers in the NBA at a rapid pace. The 7′0″, 265 pound Lopez played in 82 games (all starts) for the Nets last season and he averaged 36.9 minutes, 18.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. Lopez was not influenced at all by a lack of talent around him as he came to play every night despite the Nets being one of the worst teams in NBA history last season. He has played in 164 games (156 starts) in his two years with the Nets and he has averaged 33.7 minutes, 15.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game. Lopez is also a good shooter as he has hit 51.2% of his shots from the floor in his NBA career and he has also cashed in on 81% of his free throws. Lopez is very durable as he has yet to miss a game in his short NBA career so the Nets can depend on him. Now they just need to get him some help over the summer.
