25-year old power forward Kris Humphries has been quite a find for the Nets. He came to them in a trade with the Mavericks during last season. Humphries played in 44 games (0 starts) for the Nets last season in which he averaged 20.6 minutes, 8.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He played in 69 games (0 starts) combined for the Mavs & Nets last season in which he averaged 17.7 minutes, 7.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. I think that Humphries could really be a asset for the Nets in the near future and I think he could get more P.T. in 2010-11 depending on if the Nets add at power forward or not. He has now played in 357 games (8 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 12.8 minutes, 4.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.

UPDATE: (6/29/2010) - Kris Humphries has picked up his player option for the 2010-11 season valued at $3.2 million bucks.

22-year old center Brook Lopez is developing into one of the best centers in the NBA at a rapid pace. The 7′0″, 265 pound Lopez played in 82 games (all starts) for the Nets last season and he averaged 36.9 minutes, 18.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. Lopez was not influenced at all by a lack of talent around him as he came to play every night despite the Nets being one of the worst teams in NBA history last season. He has played in 164 games (156 starts) in his two years with the Nets and he has averaged 33.7 minutes, 15.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game. Lopez is also a good shooter as he has hit 51.2% of his shots from the floor in his NBA career and he has also cashed in on 81% of his free throws. Lopez is very durable as he has yet to miss a game in his short NBA career so the Nets can depend on him. Now they just need to get him some help over the summer.

You can’t blame starting center Brook Lopez for the Nets’ awful record this season. He has played in 77 games (all starts) for the Nets this season and he is averaging 36.8 minutes, 19.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game. Lopez is putting up those numbers without a shred of help which makes his stats even more amazing. Watch out for the Nets if they start putting talent around Lopez!

The New Jersey Nets have been the laughing stock of the NBA this season, and it looked like they were on their way to setting a very embarrassing record.  Earlier this month the Nets only had 6 wins on the season with only 21 games left to play.  The worst record in NBA history was set by the 1972-’73 Philadelphia 76ers, when they finished that season at 9-73.  The Nets were getting dangerously close to that record, but they finally figured out how to put a few wins together over the past week and avoided the shame of being the worst team in NBA history.  Going into their matchup with the Sacramento Kings on March 24th, they were 7-63.  They went on to an easy 93-79 victory that night, led by Devin Harris and his 24 points, 9 assists, and 4 rebounds.  They followed that up with another convincing 118-110 win over the Detroit Pistons two nights later.  Brook Lopez was a beast in that game with 37 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 block.  The Nets got their third win in four games on Monday night, beating the San Antonio Spurs 90-84 behind Lopez’s 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists.  These were some big wins for the Nets as they proved they weren’t the worst team in history.  This year may have been ugly for the Nets, but the future is bright with Brook Lopez, Devin Harris, possibly the number 1 pick in the next draft, and $23 million to spend on a big-time free agency class coming up this offseason.

It appears that starting point guard Devin Harris is finally starting to feel good this season. He has played in 10 games this March in which he is averaging 36.5 minutes, 20.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Harris has now played in 53 games (50 starts) for the Nets this season and he is averaging 34.9 minutes, 17.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Harris is only shooting 40.1% from the floor this season but it is getting better by the day.
